Well, duh...

My local public health nurse said something very wise to me on her last visit:
‘We are all idiots with our first baby.’
How true……

I mentioned that tinyelf was having digestion problems and had a witching hour (or three) in the evening, well Infant Gaviscon has returned her to a cooing, snuggly bundle of joy (thank you Sandy for the tip). She still frets a little bit but is much easier to soothe………..
When crazypixie screamed each evening, we thought it was normal. My mother in law said that himself and his brother used to be the same as babies.
It took 16 months and the discomfort of tinyelf for me to twig that maybe, just maybe, reflux runs in the family…..

(for when you read this in later life, crazypixie, mummy is sorry for being an idiot)

Don't be hard on yourself...its quite a learning curve (and one I may never fully stay ahead of.)

Oh you poor thing. Reflux is hideous. My first didn't have it, but my second did and it was unbearable - she was sick at least once a day, if not a lot more, every single day of her first year. Nothing helped until she could hold her back straight enough not to put pressure on her stomach. I spent the whole of her first year covered in sick. I'm so pleased for you that you've managed to ease it slightly. And I'm sure you were not an idiot in the slightest! x

When I took Cash to the paediatrician at eight weeks and she diagnosed reflux I wasn't pleased that he had something wrong with him, but I was pleased that I was right, the crying wasn't 'normal'. As soon as he was on the Gaviscon he stopped crying after every feed (and so did I). I'm so pleased this has worked for you too x
